The challenge

Not every part should be 3D printed.

For marine, energy and other industrial customers, additive manufacturing requires more than compelling equipment specifications. Engineers must assess geometries, materials, mechanical requirements, production economics, qualification and the downstream realities of finishing and inspection.

At 3D Metalforge, my work sat between those questions and the commercial decisions that followed.

My contribution

Application assessment, accounts and market-building.

As Regional Manager, I combined responsibility for key-account relationships with technical application evaluation and commercial development in Singapore and the United States.

  • Managed more than 10 global key accounts and reviewed engineering drawings to evaluate printability, material suitability and potential design-for-additive-manufacturing improvements.
  • Worked across pricing and quoting processes, including methodologies that connected manufacturing considerations with commercial estimates.
  • Supported 3D Metalforge’s Houston office setup and US market activity.
  • Contributed to work with port operator PSA exploring the development of an additive manufacturing facility within a port environment.
  • Participated in API 20S and API 20T standards-related subcommittee work and helped develop additive-manufacturing training modules for NTU.
The work behind the title

From an industrial drawing to an adoption decision

These workstreams expand on my recorded responsibilities. They are not descriptions of a disclosed individual customer transaction.

01 / WORKSTREAM

Screen the application

For marine, energy and other industrial applications, I reviewed drawings, geometry, material suitability, manufacturing constraints and opportunities for design for additive manufacturing.

02 / WORKSTREAM

Connect technical and commercial work

Work across more than ten global accounts involved pricing and quotation methodologies, and links between production reality, commercial estimates and manufacturing-execution considerations.

03 / WORKSTREAM

Support a wider industrial ecosystem

The remit included US expansion and Houston office setup, API 20S/20T subcommittee participation, NTU training contributions and work within 3D Metalforge's broader PSA port-AM initiative.

Evidence & outcomes

Commercial growth alongside technical credibility.

During my first year at 3D Metalforge, company revenue doubled, according to my professional record. During my tenure, 3D Metalforge also completed its 2021 Australian Securities Exchange listing.

Revenue growth and the ASX listing are company-level milestones, not results solely attributable to one person. PSA and 3D Metalforge publicly announced their port additive manufacturing initiative in 2018; my account describes my contributions to that broader work, not exclusive ownership of the partnership or any undisclosed project outcome. This is a personal career account, not an endorsement by my former employer or its partners.

Evidence and attribution

What the record actually supports.

My responsibilities

Regional Manager; application evaluation, global account management, quotation work, Houston expansion, standards participation and training contributions.

Public company context

MPA's 2018 PSA/NAMIC/3D Metalforge announcement and the company's 2021 ASX listing concern the organization, not sole personal project ownership.

Historical result and boundary

Company revenue doubled in my first year according to my career materials, not an audited result independently proved here. Client designs, technical specifications and confidential commercial data are excluded.

A public corporate announcement does not independently substantiate an individual career claim or constitute endorsement.

What this demonstrates

Judgment at the point of application.

My experience here built an understanding of how manufacturing adoption happens: assess the application, examine constraints, build the business case, work across disciplines and only pursue a solution when it makes operational sense.

Individual customer projects, confidential drawings and proprietary engineering details are intentionally excluded.

Behind the projects
